The Burgin Bulldogs (0-20) celebrated senior Andrew Hays before their final regular season game on Monday, May 13, when the Lincoln County Patriots (13-14) traveled to Burgin.

JT Boswell started on the mound for the Bulldogs and struck out the first batter, but Lincoln County’s Seth Horton earned his fifth home run of the season a few pitches later and earned two early runs for the Patriots. Two more Patriot runners made it on base, but the Bulldog defense played the next two batters perfectly. Boswell, calm and composed, cut off the runner sliding into home plate for the third out.

The Bulldogs got on the board quickly after Casey Dodson and Adrian Quiroz singled. The Patriot second baseman couldn’t control the incoming throw and allowed Dodson to glide into home base. Dodson and Quiroz combined again in the bottom of the third inning. Dodson reached first on an error by Lincoln’s Sawyer Horton, and Quiroz doubled on a line drive into center field. A grounder from Boswell led to another error by Horton, and the Bulldogs took advantage; Dodson and Quiroz took home plate, and Boswell’s contact turned into a double. Two outs followed, and the Bulldogs were tied with the Patriots 3-3 after three innings.
