The Mercer County Titans team competed at the 2A State Championship on Friday, May 22, at the Shively Track and Field Stadium at the University of Kentucky.

The boys team finished third, scoring 50 points, just behind Lexington Catholic (51) and the winners, Covington Catholic (105.5). The girls’ team tied for sixth with Larue County, scoring 33 points. Calloway County won the championship with a score of 108. Weather played a big part in every event, with rain making everything more difficult for all the athletes.

The boys team top finisher was junior Noah Nicholas, who won the discus throw with a distance of 169-09 and placed fourth in shot put with a throw of 50-6, scoring 15 total points across the two events. Senior Ian Alcorn placed second in the 110-meter Hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles to score 14 points for Mercer. The Titans senior triple jumpers, Jayden Sailor and Jon Konner Moore, placed third and fourth to secure 11 points.
