Weekender For Feb. 27—March 7: Writers Workshop, ‘Junie B. Jones,’ Chamber Party And Much More

Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is hosting the 2025 Writer’s Workshop this weekend. The workshop, titled “Writing as Spiritual Practice” runs for four days, from Thursday, Feb. 27, through Sunday, March 2.
The workshop include two paths: Prose or Poetry, led by award-winning Kentucky authors Fenton Johnson (prose) and Maurice Manning (poetry). This intimate opportunity to develop your writing skills will include overnight accommodations, meals, breakout sessions and musical performances along with nature and curatorial experiences unique to Shaker Village.

Ragged Edge Community Theatre’s Youth Stage production of “Junie B. Jones: Toothless Wonder” plays for its last weekend, starting on Friday, Feb. 28. Performances are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m.

Mardi Gras—also known as Fat Tuesday—happens Tuesday, March 4. Laissez les bons temps rouler, Mercer County!

Thursday, Feb. 27

Trace the footprints of the Shakers by exploring the cultural landscape they painstakingly shaped for over 100 years. Join us for a journey of discovery along the Heritage Trail, followed by a warming bonfire and lively discussion. Program will take place outdoors, rain or shine. Participants will traverse gravel, grass and dirt pathways on a 1.0-1.5 mile loop. Participants should be comfortable walking in low light/semi-dark conditions. For ages 12 and up.
