Fiscal court approves paying for pool repairs at Anderson-Dean

Pool to Remain Closed for Rest of Year

The Mercer County Fiscal Court moved to pay their share for repairs for the pool at Anderson-Dean Community Park, but there’s bad news for anyone looking to cool off at the pool this summer: the pool may not reopen until next year.

At a special-called meeting on Tuesday, June 20, officials from the park gave a progress report on the pool, which was opened to the public Memorial Day weekend but shut down on Tuesday, June 6. Pool Manager Stephen Ransdell Jr. told the magistrates the first weekend was great, but they were notified by the North Mercer Water District the water had to be shut down because the pool had lost a million gallons of water the previous week.

“We didn’t know where it went,” Ransdell said.

Efforts to identify the leak were hampered because the blueprints provided by Brandstetter Carroll Inc. did not match the pool as constructed.
