Dunn Advances To State Tennis Tournament

Sara Dunn prepared to serve in her region singles quarterfinals win last week. Dunn will represent Mercer County at the state championships in Lexington.

On Thursday, May 18, junior Sara Dunn competed in the 12th Region singles tournament. After winning her second-round match Wednesday night, Dunn played in the quarterfinals. She won the first set in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-2), then rolled in the second set, winning it 6-1. Dunn secured her spot in the semifinals and also a trip to the KHSAA tennis state championship for the second year in a row.
The semifinal was a rematch of last year’s championship match. With the first set being close, Dunn lost 3-6, 0-6. The state tennis tournament starts on Tuesday, May 30 at the University of Kentucky.
