400 Mile Yard Sale Runs June 1–4

The 400 Mile Yard Sale returns for four solid days of bargain hunting starting on Thursday, June 1, and running through Sunday, June 4.

Editor’s Note: The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is advising motorists that Harrodsburg Road/US 68 will be closed between Pekin Pike/KY 33 (milepoint 1.5) and the Jessamine-Mercer County line (milepoint 0.0) for 36 days. The closure starts Wednesday, May 31, and runs through Thursday, July 6. There will be detours set up for traffic in both directions.

The closure is necessary for overhanging rock removal operations. Message boards will advise motorists of the closure. Motorists can follow marked detours while the road section is closed. Detours will include both directions.

The 400 Mile Sale returns next week, starting Thursday. June 1, and running through Sunday, June 4. Organizers are inviting you to discover the treasures of US 68, not just the barn sales, yard sales, and sidewalk sales, but in the small towns, local diners and country stores. From the Palisades to Perryville, the 400 Mile Yard Sale stretches across Mercer County along U.S. 68, but sales can be found anywhere.

St. Andrew Catholic Church (1125 Danville Road) is holding their yard/rummage Sale on Friday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, June 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please bring your donated items to St. Mary’s Hall during normal business hours or on the weekends. Donation’s will be excepted until Wednesday, May 31. Call the office at 859-734-4270 if you would like to volunteer to help set up and work the sale.

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Mackville yard sale has been moved to Friday, June 9.

According to Tara Hall, director of the 400 Mile Sale, the sale is in its 19th year. Hall said the sale has built quite a following, with thousands of shoppers—many of them from out of state—out bargain hunting at the nearly 2,000 sales held every year as part of the 400 Mile Sale. During the four days of the sale, more than 60 communities in 20 counties will participate.
