Titans Tennis Wrap Up Regular Season Play

The winners of the match against Southwestern were Hope Lanham, Luke Whitenack, Tharum Eka and Sara Dunn.
The Titans tennis team dropped back-to-back matches against Elizabethtown and Southwestern last week. The teams are preparing for the regional competition to begin on May 15.
The Mercer girls fell short with a score of 1-3 against Elizabethtown on Wednesday, May 3. Junior Sara Dunn lost her number one singles match 1-6, 4-6. Senior Hope Lanham won her number two singles match 6-1, 6-0. Maddie Smith and Lily Leitenberger lost 1-6, 0-6 in their number one doubles match. The number two seed for the Lady Titans, Naomi and Norah Martin lost 1-6, 0-6.
The Mercer boys’ team lost 0-3. Senior Luke Whitenack lost his number one single match 1-8. The number two seed, sophomore Tharun Eka lost 7-9. Whitenack and Eka lost their doubles match 7-9.
On Thursday, May 4, the tennis team competed against the Southwestern Warriors.
The ladies’ team fell short with a score of 3-4. The number one seed Dunn won her singles match 8-3. Lanham won her number two singles match 6-0. Martin lost 0-6. The number four seed Leintenberger lost 6-7, 5-7.
Dunn and Lanham won their number one doubles match 8-1. The Martin sisters lost 3-6. The third-seed doubles team, Elizabeth Ayala and Gracie Gaddis, lost 5-7.
The boys’ team lost 1-3. Whitenack lost his number one single match 1-8. Eka lost 1-6. The number three seed Josh Noffsinger lost 4-6. Whitenack and Eka won their doubles match 9-7.
The Mercer County tennis team played Tuesday at Somerset and it was their last regular season match before regions begin on May 15.
