A local man was arrested after being recognized by police at the gas pump.
Cpl. Chase Hale of the Harrodsburg Police Department was fueling up at the Five Star on Sunday, May 7, at approximately 4:30 a.m. when he saw a tan Ford pickup truck pull up at a gas pump. According to a HPD Facebook post, the two occupants of the truck became visibly nervous upon seeing Cpl. Hale’s marked patrol vehicle. Hale was able to positively identify both individuals and determined the driver—Bobby Wayne Ritchie, of 560 Linden Avenue—and the passenger—Ron Walker, 54, of 525 Scenic Hills Drive—had active arrest warrants.
Hale placed Ritchie under arrest upon his return to the truck. During a search, Ritchie was found to be in possession of $220 in cash, two bags containing a substance suspected of being methamphetamine and a large number of unused bags. According to the uniform citation, the officer found more bags, a suspected suboxone strip and pills in the truck.
On the passenger side next to Walker’s seat, Hale found glass pipe that is suspected to have been used to smoke methamphetamine, according to the uniform citation.
