Boyle Bests Mercer In Tennis Match

Senior Hope Lanham was ready to return the serve in the game against Boyle County in Mercer’s loss Thursday, April 20.

On Thursday night, April 20, the Mercer County tennis team competed against the Boyle County Rebels at Centre College.

The girl’s team played a 9-point match and lost 2-7. The one seed for the Titans, junior Sara Dunn, won her match 8-0. Second seed senior Hope Lanham lost 1-8. Maddie Smith lost her third seed match 3-8. Norah Martin was defeated 0-6 in her fourth seed match. The fifth seed Lily Leitenberger was defeated 1-6. Naomi Martin lost her sixth seed match 2-6. Dunn and Lanham lost 5-8 in their one-seed doubles match. The second-seed doubles team, Lily Leitenberger, and Maddie Smith, lost 2-8. Naomi and Norah Martin won their third seed match 6-4.

The boy’s team played a 6-point match and lost 0-6. Senior Luke Whitenack lost his first seed singles match 2-8. The second seed Tharun Eka lost 1-8. Will Dean lost the third seed match 0-6. The fourth seed, Josh Noffsinger, lost 0-6. The top seed in doubles, Whitenack and Eka lost a close battle 7-9. Dean and Noffsinger lost their second seed match 4-8.

The Mercer County tennis team competes again Thursday, April 27 at Anderson County High School.
