.Okay, there is a ton of great events happening in Mercer County with live music, horse shows and night hikes, but you need to pace yourself. Wake the kids and call the neighbors because it’s almost fair time

That’s right, the 195th Mercer County Fair And Horse Show, the oldest continuing running horse show in America, returns Monday, July 25, and runs through July 31.

Actually, the events start Friday, July 22, when the annual demolition derby starts. Admission is $15 each, free for kids 10 and younger.

But the midway will light up on Monday, July 25. Beauty pageants, livestock and animal shows, tractor pulls, Ferris wheels, roller coasters and, last but not least, fair food.

So go out and have a great time this weekend, but remember to pace yourself. Drink plenty of fluids. Eat your vegetables. Get ready. It’s almost fair time.

Oh, and before we forget, the live drama “James Harrod: The Battle For Kentucky” starts its two weekend run Thursday, July 21, at Old Fort Harrod State Park.
