David Sims

David Ray Sims, 93, of Burgin, widower of Dottie Burchell Sims, died Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at his home. Born Nov. 16, 1928, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Nathan and Rettie (Satterly) Sims. He retired from Kentucky Utilities, was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Burgin Baptist Church, a member of the Mercer Masonic Lodge #777, Oleika Shrine Temple, Royal Order of Jesters, the 39 Club, Danville Wilderness Shrine Club, American Legion, Kentucky Colonel, former Burgin School Board Member and Burgin Lions Club member. Survivors include: two daughters, Lou Anne S. (Tom) Ison of Lexington and Cheryl S. Currens of Harrodsburg; three granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, and special caregivers, Carolyn Arnold, Shari Gash, Jan Brown and Cindy Kelly. He was preceded in death by one brother, Nathan Sims Jr., one sister, Virginia Sims Russell and one great-grandson, Sawyer Currens.
