Gayle Sims

Gayle Norman Sims, 85, of Lexington, husband of Alberta Elizabeth Cooper Sims, died Saturday, July 2, 2022, at VA Medical Center in Lexington. Born July 28, 1936, in Duncan, he was the son of the late Bennie Roscoe (B.R.) and Ada Castleman (Currens) Sims. He attended Harrodsburg High School, was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, was the owner and operator of Sims Antiques in Lexington, was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Broadway Christian Church in Lexington. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include: one daughter, Teresa Gail Sims Stephens of Lake Park, Fla; two step -sons, Jerry (Sue) Carmickle of Georgetown and Bobby (Debbie) Carmickle of Columbus, Ga.; two grandchildren, six step grandsons, three great-grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one step-son, Donald Carmickle; two brothers, Buster and Edgar Sims and one sister, Onita Stayton.
