Sneak Preview Of Ragged Edge’s Production ‘Wizard Of Oz’ On Friday, June 10

Get a sneak peek at the Ragged Edge Community Theatre’s production of L. Frank Baum’s “The Wizard of Oz” this week at the Dinner on Main. The picnic-style community meal happens Friday, June 10, starting at 6 p.m. at Olde Towne Park (126 South Main Street).
The dinner is being held by the Harrodsburg First Main Street Program as a fund-raiser for Ragged Edge. The event is taking the place of the Friday Night On Main live entertainment series, which will return in July. It’s similar to an event Harrodsburg First held in 2019 to celebrate the opening of Ragged Edge’s production of “Mamma Mia!”
Kaitlyn Harder, executive director of Harrodsburg First, said Dinner on Main will feature vignettes from “The Wizard of Oz” featuring the cast in full costume.
“This is a picnic-style event. Bring your own dinner and enjoy our cash bar while you decorate your table for a chance to win first and second place prizes.” Harder said via email.
Tickets for the Dinner on Main are $25 per person or $150 per table of eight.
L. Frank Baum published “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” back in 1900 and MGM released the definitive movie version starring Judy Garland in 1939, but interest in the adventures of Dorothy, the Scrarecrow, the Tin Woodsman, the Cowardly Lion and of course, the Wicked Witch, will never die.
Ragged Edge said tickets are selling so fast they have added an additional performance.
The production begins a two week run on Friday, June 17, and continues until Sunday, June 26. Performances on Fridays and Saturdays start at 7 p.m. while the Sunday matinees start at 3 p.m. Ragged Edge added a performance on Saturday, June 25, starting at 2 p.m.
The production is directed by Steve Sleeper with music director is Scott Walker, choreographer Hannah Beth Turner and stage manager Tim White.
