Old Fort Harrod State Park Has Big Summer Planned

Picnic In The Park is back. Mercer County’s oldest continuous live entertainment series began its 36th series last week with a performance by Be Square under the Osage orange tree. The live entertain runs every Friday at noon running through August. Next week, Dave Stahl, “the Piano Doctor” brings his mix of pop and country to the park.

Park Manager David Coleman said he is still working out the details for the last two weeks of Picnic In The Park. But that’s hardly the only thing happening at Old Fort Harrod. Their biggest event of year, the Settlement and Raid, returns next week, on Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There is also the return of outdoor drama with “James Harrod: The Battle For Kentucky” which comes back for a two week run starting Thursday, July 21, at 7:30 p.m.

Beyond that, Pioneer Days, the free festival featuring nearly 100 vendors, live music, car show, wrasslin’ and fun activities for the whole family, happens Friday, Aug. 19, though Sunday, Aug. 21. The “Big Jack” Pearson Memorial Car Show presented by the Central Kentucky Hot Rodders happens Saturday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. And the Haunted Frontier returns in October.
