Anthony Hawkins

Anthony Hawkins, 76, of Harrodsburg, widower of Edweina (Stott) Hawkins died Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at his residence. Born April 26, 1946, in Lyon, Miss., he was the son of the late Anthony and Ella Mae (Ray) Hawkins Sr. He was a professional musician, lead vocalist and guitarist for the rock band Black Merda, in Detroit, was a recording engineer and member of the Philadelphia Church of God. Survivors include: six daughters: Tanya Pierce, Jamie Hawkins and Brandy Hawkins of Lexington, Shanna Hawkins of Detroit, Mich., Aria Turner of Baton Rouge, La., Amber Benton of Junction City; one son, Zenas Luckett of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, Ella Mae Adams of Detroit, Mich., Mary Jean Payton of Detroit, Mich. and Anise Campbell of Detroit, Mich.; one brother, Charles Hawkins of Detroit, Mich.; 25 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Linnie Walker.
