Weekender April 7-14: Go Tell America Crusade, Demolition Derby And More

After weeks of preliminary events, the Go Tell America Crusade with Rick Gage starts Sunday, April 10. The crusade starts 7 p.m. and runs nightly for four nights at Campbellsville University Harrodsburg, until Wednesday, April 13. The event is free to the public and features Ken Freeman, Adrian Depres, David Pollack, the Jason Lovins Band and Allison Speer.

Crash! Boom! Bang! That’s no April shower, it’s time for the heavy metal thunder to descend on Mercer County when the season’s first Demolition Derby happens at Mercer County Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 9. The derby features mini cars, youth mini cars and quick build big cars. The action starts at 7 p.m.

Friday, April 8
• Easter Bunny at Amanda’s Crafts (124 South Main Street). The Easter Bunny will be hopping by every Friday and Saturday until Easter. 3-6 p.m. Facebook: Amandaswoodstuff.

• Bedtime With The Babies at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill (3501 Lexington Road). Gather outside the barn for a warm drink and a quiet bedtime story with the animals. 6–7 p.m. Meet outside Trustees’ Office 10 minutes before the program. $10 for season pass holder, $15 for everyone else. 859-734-5411 or shakervillageky.org.

Saturday, April 9
• Family Farm Days at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill (3501 Lexington Road). Family fun lambs, kids, chicks, piglets, calves, miniature donkeys and more. Also activity stations, sheep shearing, hay wagon rides, hay bale maze, scavenger hunts, pony rides and more surprises. Children 17 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult. The Fall Brawl demolition derby at Mercer County Fairgrounds happens Saturday, April 9, starting at 7 p.m.

• Demolition Derby at Mercer County Fairgrounds (560 Linden Avenue). Features mini cars, youth mini cars and quick build big cars. Tech Time: 3–6 p.m. Entrants must be in line by 6 p.m. to run derby.
