Commission Okays Lexington Road Development
The Harrodsburg-Mercer County Joint Planning And Zoning Commission adopted the 2022
Harrodsburg-Mercer County comprehensive plan.
At the commission meeting on Tuesday, March 15, Shawn Moore, executive director of planning and zoning, said they’d been working on the plan for three years. He said Bluegrass Area Development District had updated much of the information in the plan, including adding historic districts that weren’t included in the previous edition to make them available for grants and architectural resources as well as facility updates for education, law enforcement, fire protection, 911 services, emergency medical services, local hospitals and health and water departments.
In addition, Bluegrass ADD created the implementation plan for chapter 9. Moore said the comprehensive plan is 147 pages long.
The commission held a public hearing, but there were no comments. They then voted unanimously to adopt the plan. The next update will be due in five years.
In other business, the Harrodsburg-Mercer County Joint Planning And Zoning Commission also approved a development plan for the Village At Palisades submitted by Gooch Investments LLC for the reconstruction of the existing store/restaurant and the construction of five addition rental units for AirBnB and public recreational use.
The property is located at 6730 Lexington Road and zoned B-2 (Highway Business).
According to the applicants, Kristy Gooch and Douglas Gooch, there are three existing structures on the site currently. They plan to keep the old restaurant/storage building and house. They will be moving the building further off Lexington Road and adding a new deck and paved area with fire pit which will be used by guests.
The rental units will be AirBNB while the existing building will be a general store/pizza/deli.
“We’re not going to do anything crazy,” Kristy Gooch said.
