The Burgin boys basketball team (3-25) couldn’t keep up with the Powell County Pirates (9-19), losing 41-71.

The Bulldogs came out of the gate with Jacobe Taylor knocking down a three-pointer, assisted by Jkaivin Walker, putting Burgin up 3-0. Walker got the start with Jacob Qualls out with an injury and he made a nice move to drop a floater in from the elbow to recapture the lead, 5-3.

However, Powell used their size to get multiple second chance opportunities and strung together a 16 point drive with putbacks and outside shooting to end the first quarter up, 5-19.
