CU Harrodsburg Ribbon Cutting On July 15
Thursday, July 15, will be Sandra DeFoor Day in Harrodsburg, honoring a longtime advocate for health and wellness here in Mercer County.
The big event will be the ribbon cutting for the Campbellsville University Harrodsburg Nursing and LMR programs at the Commonwealth Credit Union Center for Health Sciences at 12:30 p.m.
The new 8,000 square foot building will house nursing and limited medical radiology programs. Dr. Robert N. Darnell, the namesake of the LMR program, will be recognized along with DeFoor.
Defoor, who retired as nursing director of the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital, is working with the CU Harrodsburg School of Nursing to train a new generation of nurses.
DeFoor is a registered nurse who holds a bachelor of science in nursing degree. She also serves as the chair of the Mercer Health Department and on the boards of Heritage Hospice, the Kentucky Nurses Association, Nursing Home Ombudsman, American Cancer Society, the Kentucky Diabetes Association and Initiating the Road to Recovery.
Her contributions towards the well-being of Mercer County led the Harrodsburg City Commission to declare Thursday Sandra DeFoor Day.
The ribbon cutting for the Sandra DeFoor School of Nursing building and the Dr. Robert Darnell Limited Medical Radiography building will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, at the Commonwealth Credit Union Center for Health Sciences, located at 1000 Danville Road.
