The annual Pioneer Days event will be held at Old Fort Harrod State Park Aug. 20-22.
“We are back and have already booked OVW to be our headlining entertainment for Saturday night,” said Chase Barnett, Pioneer Days committee chair. “The car show, eating contests and so much more will be happening.”
Ohio Valley Wrestling or OVW has become very popular in Kentucky, notably supported by Kentucky Sports Radio personality Matt Jones. Barnett said he hopes the radio will do a remote show but it has not been confirmed yet. He said the committee has been working diligently to not only bring Pioneer Days back but to make it as big as it ever was.
“We booked Party on Air Axe throwing, a massive slide, bouncy house and a euro bungee for the event,” said Barnett. “It is always free to attend Pioneer Days but thanks to our generous sponsors Party on Air will only cost $5 for all day.”
Vendors, food, live music and local entertainment is planned for all three days according to Barnett.
“The eating contests are always popular and we will have pizza, pie and watermelon,” said Barnett. “Plus we will have demos on stage of local talent in addition to live music.”
