Lady Bulldogs Take Seven To State

The Burgin Bulldogs qualified six athletes for the class A state track meet held this past Thursday, June 10.
Raegan Taylor made her first appearance at state despite just being in the seventh grade. Taylor finished ninth in the 100 meter hurdles and set a new personal record with a time of 17.75. Junior Rebecca Biggs raced in the 100 hurdles as well, running a time of 18.16 and placing twelfth. She also placed nineteenth in the 300 hurdles.
The Lady Bulldogs 4×200 relay team composed of Anderson Taylor, Biggs, Ellie Jenkins and Kate Hatfield finished in 1:58.36 for eighteenth place.
Mackenzi Mathews had a record breaking day for Burgin. The junior’s eleventh placed finish in the mile was enough to break Burgin’s school record with a time of 5:42.40. She followed with another personal best and school record of 2:29.80 in the open 800.
