The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office is trying to determine how two men died of apparent drug overdoses last week.

On Monday, Jan. 4, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Bardstown Road, where they found two unconscious adult males, one in a bedroom and the other in the living room.

The first male was given CPR and Naloxone by Dep. Bill Cruce and firefighters from the Salvisa Fire Department. He was transported to Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital in Harrodsburg, then to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, where medical personnel were unable to revive him. According to a press release, the second male was pronounced dead at the scene by Mercer Deputy Coroner Chuck Bugg.
