Lady Bulldogs end regular season with two wins

After a rough start to the calender year, the Burgin Lady Bulldogs (3-21) ended their season with two victories over Riverside Christian and Cordia on Saturday, Feb. 16, before district tournament play begins next week.
Here is a recap of their two wins.
vs. Riverside Christian (2/16)
Burgin defeated the Lady Rams (13-16) by a final score of 49-29 in the first of two games on Saturday, Feb. 16.
Sophomore Hannah Stewart and eighth grader Kaiden Lewis led the way for Burgin with 10 points each.
Freshman Brynn Simpson also had a big game for the Lady Bulldogs, scoring nine points and hauling in a team-high five rebounds.

Burgin Head Coach Keith Monson gave thoughts on the Riverside win and looking ahead to the district tournament.
“I was really pleased with out overall effort in both games,” he said. “We beat a team (Riverside) that had beaten us by 12 earlier and we won the rematch by 20 points and scored the most points we had all year. We had good individual performances from Kaiden Lewis and Brynn Simpson. We have a tough game in the district tournament coming up, but we have improved a lot since the start of the season so I think we’re headed in the right direction.”
vs. Cordia (2/16)
This win for Burgin over the Lady Lions (1- 29) was led by Kaiden Lewis, who scored a game-high 19 points, hauled in a team-high nine rebounds and was the only Lady Bulldog in double-figures.
Junior Julia Arnett was the next top scorer for Burgin with eight points.
