The Burgin Lady Bulldogs (1-19) dropped their 13th game in a row in a 62-27 affair against the Frankfort Lady Panthers (13-14) on Monday, Feb. 4.

Freshman Grace Cocanougher led Burgin with a team-high six points and eight rebounds. Freshmen Brynn Simpson and Ellie Jenkins scored five points each for the Lady Bulldogs.

Burgin started the game on a 6-0 run before Frankfort was able to execute their offense, responding with a 13-0 run the next few minutes of the first, and ended the first half on a 34-11 run.

“I was pleased with our effort tonight. We still made a lot of bad passes and had some bad turnovers. That just comes with learning how to play,” said Head Coach Keith Monson. “But I was very proud of them tonight.”

Simpson knocked down the only three-pointer of the night for Burgin. Tianna Mitchell led the Lady Panthers with a game-high 19 points.

Despite the losing streak, Monson is confident in his team’s ability to get better each and every time out on the floor. “The way we started the game is something to build on. I’m proud of them and their still learning the game,” said Monson.

The Lady Bulldogs will be back on the court Saturday, Feb. 9, when they travel to take on Portland Christian at 2:30 p.m.
