Ida Underwood

Ida Mae Claunch Underwood, 88, widow of Carl Lee Underwood, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at Baptist Health Lexington.

Born Sept. 3, 1929, in Rose Hill, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Lee and Mary Bell Divine Claunch.

She graduated from Rose Hill High School in Mercer County and went on to attend Campbellsville College and the Lexington Baptist College. She was a long-time member of the Ashland Avenue Baptist Church and was currently a member of Heritage Baptist Church and was a Fifty Year Member of the Order of the Eastern Star Henry Clay Chapter 398.  She retired as a dental assistant having worked at Dr. Kenney’s dental office for several years.

Survivors include her son, Terry Keith Underwood of Lexington; one daughter, Vicki Kincaid of Versailles; three grandchildren, Tanya Monique Miller, Adam Keith Underwood and Erik Jonathan Smith, and one great grandchild, Kennevah Alexis Miller.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Greg Waltermire officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Adam Underwood, Erik Smith, Tanya Miller, Kennevah Miller, and Bobby Cheatham serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at 2 p.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
