Darrell Agee
Darrell G. Agee, 71, of Salvisa, husband of Judith K. Daulton Agee, died Monday, April 30, 2018, at his farm.
Born November 26, 1946, in Perryville, he was the son of the late J. B. Agee Sr. and Celta Mae Smith Agee Huff.
Darrell graduated from Mercer Co. High School in 1964, received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from EKU and his MBA from Central Michigan Univ. Following graduation, Darrell joined the US Army.
Darrell served in the US Military as a career officer from 1969-1992, being stationed at Ft. Sill, OK, Ft. Benning, GA, South Vietnam, Ft. Knox, KY, Ft. Wolters, TX, Ft. Rucker, AL, South Korea, Ft. Campbell, KY, Omaha, NE, Ft. Leavenworth, KS, Ft. Riley, KS, Japan, and Bluegrass Army Depot, Lexington. Darrell served in the Vietnam War where he received 3 Bronze Stars and several other commendations.
Upon retirement from the US Army as a Lt. Col., Darrell and his wife, Judy, moved to Salvisa, where he farmed with great enthusiasm. He loved being mentored by his father-in-law, Harry Daulton, where he learned quickly all the facets of beef cattle and tobacco farming.
He was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where he served as deacon and teacher at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center. He was a Gideon and a member of the Kentucky Cattleman’s Association, and had served on the board of the Mercer Co. Farm Bureau.
