Virginia Bohanan

Virginia Wilder Bohanan, 99, of Harrodsburg, widow of Hubert Fletcher Bohanan, died at 9:50 a.m., Sunday, March 11, 2018, in Harrodsburg.

Born Aug. 24, 1918, in Wilmore, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Minnie (Grow) Wilder.

She was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School, a retired accountant and bookkeeper for the former Hub-Frankel in Danville, Past President of Church Women United, member of the Volunteer Christian Life Center, Progressive Homemakers, Friendship Circle, an Elder at the Harrodsburg Christian Church, Past Historian at the Harrodsburg Christian Church, Board member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and a member of the Crestwood Christian Church in Lexington.

Survivors include: one step son, Charles (Sandy) Bohanan of Apex, NC; several nieces and nephews, William Lee (Glenda) Wilder of Harrodsburg, Gerald (Billie Jo) Johnson of Lexington, Alice (Clell) Coleman of Leesburg, FL; four great-nieces and five great-nephews. She is also survived by her special friend and caregiver, Brenda Miller of Harrodsburg.

She was preceded in death by one brother Stanley Wilder, two sisters Ruth Johnson and Hazel Liddle, one nephew, Bob Butler and one niece, Patricia Butler.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 14, at Sims Funeral Services with Reverend Gaye Haralu officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.

Pallbearers were: Bobby Wilder, Wayne Wilder, David Wilder, Lee Coleman, Walter Lewis and Zachery Lewis. Honorary bearers were the Bethany Sunday School Class and Elders of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Harrodsburg Christian Church Building Fund or to one’s favorite charity.
