Tell me if you’ve heard this before: the Lady Titans are tournament champions. Although the season is far from the post-season, the Lady Titans (8-1) keep adding more hardware to their trophy case after their 85-53 victory over Southwestern in the Queen of the Commonwealth championship on Friday, Dec. 22.

The Lady Titans also added two more to the list of 1,000-point scorers as seniors Lexy Lake and Emma Davis both eclipsed the milestone during their latest tournament run. Senior Emmy Souder reached the milestone against Mason County on Saturday, Dec. 16

Having a couple 1,000-point scorers is impressive, but having five is unprecedented. Accolades continue to pile up for this impressive group of seniors. Here is a reacp of the semi-final and championship games.

Head Coach Chris Souder talked about what that means for his program.

“It is something that we will probably never see again. I would like to see if and when that has ever been done on one team,” he said. “It really speaks volumes of what the word ‘team’ really means. You can’t explain in words what it has meant and what it will always mean in this program. There is absolutely zero jealousy and I truly feel they have a genuine love for each other.”

Souder said the old sports saying (T)ogether (E)veryone (A)chieves (M)ore is very true with this team and that this bunch should go down as one of the best ‘teams’ of all-time in KHSAA history. Game recaps will be in this week’s issue.
