Burgin and Mercer County Sanitation District Agree to Agree
The City of Burgin and the Mercer County Sanitation District have come to terms over handling billing for the city’s new sewer system.
The Burgin City Council voted unanimously to accept the District’s latest offer, which includes a $7,500 startup fee and a monthly service fee of five percent of sewer billing. The five year contract comes with a five year automatic renewal. Either party can terminate the agreement with a 60-day written notice.
Burgin will handle billing for sewer customers. The city will also handle cutoffs and turn-ons and retain the fees.
