Betty Jo Pickett

Betty Jo Pickett, 91, widow of Lloyd VanArsdall Pickett Sr., died Wednesday, May 31, 2017, in Mercer County.

Born Feb. 2, 1926, in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Gertrude Conn Royse, Sr.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Town and Country Homemakers and was a member of the Burgin Christian Church where she was involved with the CWF.

Survivors include: three sons, Lloyd V. (Sandy) Pickett Jr. of Harrodsburg, Bill (Crystal) Pickett of Lawrenceburg and Allen R. (Tami) Pickett of Lancaster; one daughter, Ann (Eli) Pickett Miller of Lexington; one sister, Judy (Paul) Cooper of Greensburg, Ind.; five grandchildren, Beth Ann  Lunce, Haley E. Pickett, Joanna E. Pickett, Connlee C. Pickett and Ava Pickett, and two great-grandchildren,  Trevor Slone and Michael Spears. 

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn G. Reynolds, Frances Waller McDowell and Gladys Harlow, and two brothers,  Gene C. Royse and Herbert Royse Jr.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 5, 2017, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Snyder and Rev. Gene Strange officiating. Burial was in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Harlow, Gene Waller, Paul Waller, Mark Royse, David Royse, Brent Johnson and Trevor Slone. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Burgin Christian Church Fellowship Sunday school class.
