Manhunt Over: Meeks Back In Custody

The inmate who escaped Northpoint Training Center two weeks ago is back in custody.

Thomas Lee Meeks, 39, of Richmond, was arrested at the Oak Tree Inn in Irvine by the Kentucky State Police on Thursday, June 1. State Police say they received a tip as to Meeks’ whereabouts.

Meeks is a convicted burglar who walked away from the medium-security institution in Burgin on May 25.

He now faces a charge of 2nd-degree escape, a class D felony. He is lodged at the Three Forks Regional Jail in Beattyville.

In 2011, Meeks was convicted of three counts of 2nd-degree burglary, one count of theft by unlawful taking over $500 and another count of theft by unlawful taking of a firearm

. He would have been eligible for parole in March 2018.

Meeks has at least two active cases in Madison County and another in Jessamine County, according to the Kentucky Court of Justice website.
