It was a special night in Burgin as four seniors took the field for the last time. Unfortunately, senior night didn’t go as planned as the Frankfort Panthers (5-13) defeated the Bulldogs 8-5.

Seniors Jordan Hurst, Alex Wallace, Hunter Sallee and Jacob Burdine were the Bulldogs honored before the game as they took the diamond for one final game in Burgin.

Jordan Hurst took the loss for the Bulldogs, pitching three and two-thirds innings, surrendering four runs on five hits, two walks and four strikeouts. Sallee, who came in to relieve Hurst, pitched three innings, giving up three runs on three hits, five walks and three strikeouts. Sophomore Cameron Hurst closed out the game for Sallee,  pitching one-thirds of an inning, giving up no runs on no hits, no walks and one strikeout.

Junior Allen Whitaker had a big day at the plate for the Bulldogs as he drove in a season-high three runs to lead the team in that category. The other two runs were unearned and were scored on wild pitches.

The Bulldogs will be back on field next week for the district tournament, which will be held at East Jessamine.  The coaches’ meeting is set for this Thursday, May 18. Game time for the 46th District teams will be decided then.
