Before the season started, Head Coach Robbie Tharpe talked about the importance of district play, especially against a team like the East Jessamine Lady Jaguars (5-4), who have dominated the district the past three seasons.
The Lady Titans won the game, 4-3, behind freshman Lindsay Shope in the circle. Shope pitched a complete game, giving up five hits, no walks and five strikeouts.
This was a big win for Tharpe and his group as they look to find their identity heading into the latter part of the season.
The coach was pleased with his team’s effort and talked after the game about how big a win this was.
“It’s always good to get a district win, especially in your first district game,” said Tharpe. “This is the senior class’ first win over East Jessamine in their careers, so they’ve struggled with that, but it was good to see them pull this one out.”
