JIM CARPENTER JR.

James W. “Jim” Carpenter Jr., 77, husband of Dora Liggett Carpenter, died Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington.

Born July 19, 1939, in Morgantown, W.V., he was the son of the late James W. and Mary Bower Carpenter.

He was a retired civil engineer for PEH/Strand Engineers, was a member of the Mercer Masonic Lodge 777, was a Hispanic Sunday School Teacher at Burgin Baptist Church and was a key leader in the establishment of the Mercer County Sanitation District, of which he served as chairman since 2005.
