Celebrating 144 Years at the Mercer County Public Library

Mercer County has had a public library service since 1873, and in order to commemorate the 144 years, the theme for National Public Library Week is “Celebrate!”

National Public Library Week will take place Sunday, April 9, through Saturday, April 15.

The week is sponsored by the American Library Association and celebrates the contributions of the country’s libraries, librarians and the support they bring to their communities.

“Everything this week is free and everything we do is free, it’s all here for the community,” said Robin Ison, director of Mercer County Public Library.

Throughout the week, MCPL will be hosting free events for all ages. Although free, some require pre-registration to prepare for food and supplies.
