Mercer County Farm Bureau Earns Top Honors At State Meeting

The Mercer County Farm Bureau collected a slew of awards at the 97th Annual Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) meeting in Louisville on Friday, Dec. 2.

For the second year in a row the group won Top County, awarded to the county bureau with the highest number of members. This year Mercer has 3,434 members. Beth Kelly, Information chair of Mercer County Farm Bureau, said if they win the award three years in a row, they will get to keep the trophy.

Zack Ison, Mercer County Farm Bureau president, said in an interview at the meeting, “Beth (Kelly) and the girls at the office work really hard. They’re going after it, keeping us in line and making sure we meet all our requirements. Their hard work has paid off for them.”

The group also won awards for Outstanding Membership and Program Achievement, Women’s Gold Star Award of Excellence, Young Farmer Gold Star Award of Excellence and second place for the County Information Awards competition.
