A long-simmering feud among the Burgin City Councilmen finally boiled over last week.

Tensions were already high when the council began discussing whether to extend the same benefits to Patrolman Casey Rucker that have already been extended to Police Chief Jim Caldwell.

That’s when Councilman Chris Cooper charged Councilman Terry Pitman with no longer living in Burgin.

“How long have you lived in Perryville?” Cooper asked.

Pitman, whose address on Facebook is listed as Perryville, admitted he owned a house there. He said his wife lived there full-time while he divided his time between Perryville and the home he still owns in Burgin. Pitman told Cooper he still paid taxes in Burgin.
