After nearly two hours of weather delays in Boyle County, the Rebel Bowl game between Mercer County and Bell County finally kicked off at around 8 p.m., Saturday, and gave the Titans their first victory of the season over the Bobcats with a score of 48–18.
The Titans were the first on the board with a 29-yard pass from Gunnar Gillis to Donald “D” Smith. The senior running back finished the game with three touchdowns and 60 yards rushing.
Another huge contributor offensively was Dustin Baker. He finished the night with two touchdowns, and 137 yards rushing. Ninety-four of those yards were from a touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
“I thought those guys did a good job for us,” said Mercer County Head Coach David Buchanan after the game.
