Mercer County sophomore Alyssa Howard recently got the chance of a lifetime as she was selected to represent the Kentucky Olympic Development Program at the top youth soccer training academy in the Netherlands.

Howard, who plays for the Mercer County Lady Titans varsity soccer team and Lexington Futbol Club (LFC), had to go through a series of tryouts before being notified on March 1 that she was selected to attend the Feyenoord Rotterdam training academy in Holland. She attended the training March 29–April 6.

While at the academy Howard and the other players selected trained twice a day and played two games against professional clubs.
