There was an extra special guest speaker present for the Mercer County Chamber of Commerce’s Perk Up meeting on Tuesday, March 15.

Lieutenant Governor Jenean Hampton, the first African-American to be elected to statewide office in Kentucky, spoke to an audience of community members and students from Mercer County Senior High School about her life and journey to the Kentucky capitol during a tour of local businesses in Mercer County. The story of her rise from poverty to the capitol in Frankfort has been an inspiration for many people.
