The sewer project for Burgin saw some changes to the initial plan during the city council meeting on March 8.
Representatives from the Mercer County Sanitation Department and Smith Contractors, Inc. explained to the council the project is now going to be bid in four separate sections.
The project has been broken down into four parts. Bids for the first two parts of the project will be opened Thursday, March 17, at 2 p.m. at the Mercer County Courthouse on Lexington Street. Bids for the other two projects will be opened one week later.
Sanitation District General Manager Mike Sanford said the project was reconfigured to bring down costs. Last month, Smith Contractors, Inc., of Lawrenceburg, bid $9,351,516, about $1.3 million more than the district received through a loan and grant package last year.
