Most coaches would worry about how their team would play after not having a game for over two weeks, but Burgin Head Coach Don Irvine wasn’t concerned after his team had a great week of practice. The strong practices led to a strong game Tuesday night as the Bulldogs rolled to a 76-29 win over the visiting Walden Wolverines.
“I probably would have worried coming in, except last week we probably had our best week of practice. I thought we came out fresh,” said Irvine.
The Bulldogs looked ready to go early, jumping out to an 11-0 lead before Walden got on the board nearly five minutes into the game. The lead was extended to 26-8 by the end of the first quarter and 50-20 by halftime.
Burgin, who was led in scoring by Tommy Lopresto with 21 points, stepped up the defense in the second half, holding the Wolverines to only nine points.
