The Lafayette Generals used a big second half to separate themselves from the Mercer County Titans Saturday night as they went on to win, 53-13, in the PBK Rebel Bowl at Boyle County High School.

Lafayette, who defeated Paul Laurence Dunbar 43-21 a week ago, outscored the Titans 47-13 over the final three quarters of the game. However, the Titans hung tough for most of the first half.

“I loved how hard our kids played. I thought in spots tonight, especially early, that we played outstanding defense against a very good opponent,” said Mercer County Head Coach David Buchanan.

Both teams went three and out on their first possessions, before the Generals finally broke through with a touchdown with 3:04 remaining in the first quarter.
