The Mercer County Lady Titans saw their season ended a year ago when they were defeated, 4-1, on Oct. 13, by 46th District rival East Jessamine. This year the Lady Titans were determined to get revenge and that is exactly what they did, as they defeated the Lady Jaguars Tuesday, Sept. 6, 6-0.
Sophomore Chelsea Moore, who leads the Lady Titans with 10 goals this season, led the way for Mercer County as she netted a hat trick for the second time this season.
Moore got going just seven minutes into the game as she placed the ball past East Jessamine goalkeeper Sarah Underwood.
Twelve minutes later Moore added her second goal of the game on an assist from fellow sophomore Kate Bryant.
Emma Davis added the Lady Titans third goal of the half with just four minutes remaining.
“During practice yesterday, myself and the assistant coaches felt like tonight would be the night that our girls would really come out and show everyone what they are capable of,” said Lady Titans Head Coach Tony Brown.
Just four minutes into the second half Moore, who celebrated her 16th birthday on Tuesday, scored her third goal.
Jasa Connelly drilled a shot from 22 yards out that went past Underwood with 16 minutes remaining in the game, increasing Mercers lead to five goals.
The Lady Titans added a sixth and final goal with six minutes left in the game, on a goal by freshman Aubrey Jones, who picked up the first goal of her career.
