Titans fall in 12th Region semifinals

Mercer County sophomore Mason Hazelwood pitched five innings and struck out five batters in the Titans 12th Region Tournament semifinal loss Thursday night.

   The Mercer County Titans were only able to muster one hit in a 3-0 loss to the Garrard County Golden Lions in the 12th Region semifinals Thursday night.

Garrard County pitcher Logan Teague pitched a complete game, striking out seven batters.

“I think the kid on the mound had an affect on us. I told the Teague kid, what a gusty performance by him. He threw a gem. He worked ahead in the count all game long,” said Mercer County Head Coach Jeremy Shope. “Hats off to him. I thought he pitched a phenomenal game and he had a lot to do with the outcome.”

The Golden Lions got what would become the winning run in the bottom of the first inning.
