If you have attended a Burgin sporting event this year, than you have probably seen Ridge Yeast.
The senior, who graduates next week, was a member of the basketball and baseball teams in his final year of school. When he wasn’t on the court or on the diamond he was attending nearly every home game of the Burgin girls basketball, volleyball and softball programs. He was also named homecoming king.
For Yeast, though, Bulldog pride hasn’t always been in his blood. He transferred from Mercer County to the smaller, Burgin, in February 2014. It’s a move he says was the best possible thing for him.
“The small school atmosphere is great. Everyone at Burgin is like family, because it’s such a small school,” said Yeast.
At Mercer County, Yeast hadn’t played any organized sports in high school, but when he got to Burgin he decided to give it a try.
