Burgin boy’s basketball head coach Brian Kirk has stepped down to take the same position at his alma-mater, Augusta High School.

Kirk, who took over the Burgin head coaching job in 2012, graduated from Augusta in 2004 and was the school’s all-time leading scorer with 2,222 points, until the record was broken by Brent Bach who graduated in 2014.

At Burgin, Kirk compiled a 15-68 record over three seasons. His best season was his first on the job, in which his team went 9-18.

“It was not an easy decision to leave by any stretch of the imagination. My family loves Burgin and we have made many friends during our time here,” said Kirk. “I have learned so much from being a part of the Burgin community. We were accepted with open arms when we came here and we certainly appreciate how everyone has treated us.”
