The Burgin Lady Bulldogs scored three first inning runs to lead them to a 13-3 victory over the visiting Bardstown Lady Tigers Thursday night.

After holding Bardstown scoreless in the top of the first, the Lady Bulldogs didn’t waste any time taking the lead.

Leadoff batter Grace Osbourn reached on a single to left field. The next batter, Elizabeth Adams, knocked her in on an RBI double. The following batter, Audrey Frederick, hit a single to right field. Adams came around to score later in the inning after a single to left field by Kelci Hammons. Frederick scored on an error by Bardstown to give Burgin a 3-0 lead after one.

Bardstown tied it up with three runs in the top of the second, but again the Lady Bulldogs continued to dominate at the plate.

Hannah Downs led off the bottom of the second with a double to left field. She came around to score after Julia Hagen’s hit was mishandled at shortstop. Hagen reached second base on the error. Hagen scored on an RBI single to centerfield by Adams. Mackenzie Issacs knocked in Adams on a double to left field, which gave Burgin a 6-3 lead.
