Buchanan, who graduated from Mercer County High School in 1983, returns after spending the last 19 years at Mason County.
While at Mason, Buchanan compiled a 150-72 record, leading his team to seven district titles, two regional championships and three 12-win seasons. Prior to coaching at Mason County, he was the head coach of Paris Independent for four seasons, where he had a 31-15 record and won two district championships.
“We’re very excited that David Buchanan is coming as our next football coach,” said Malissa Hutchins, principal at MCSHS. “We know he is going to continue to take the program in the direction we expect it to go. He is a proven winner and I know he will be an excellent role model for our students, staff and community.”
Buchanan is as excited to be the Titans’ new coach as they are to have him.
