Titans Give Up Season-High 86 in Loss to Jaguars

Mercer County freshman Trevon Faulkner, left, went toward the basket after teammate Drew Davis, right, set a screen on East Jessamine’s T.J. Ross, center.

Mercer County’s Trevon Faulkner and Will Hager combined for 60 points Friday night for the Titans, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to the host East Jessamine Jaguars 86-81.

Faulkner, a freshman, scored 35 points for the Titans, while junior Will Hager added 25 more.

The Jaguars had their own duo who shined in the game, as seniors Rashawn Jackson and Hayden Smith scored 27 and 24 points, respectively.

Mercer County also missed the inside presence of junior Malik Dow, who averages 12 points and 8.9 rebounds for the Titans. Dow suffered a concussion in the game prior and sat out as a precaution.

The Titans and Jaguars exchanged the lead seven times during the first quarter, but East Jessamine came out with a 21-17 advantage after one.

They extended their lead to double digits in the second quarter.
